Against the background of deepening partnership between Africa and India, this report analyses the dynamics of trade and investment relations with the view to deriving maximum benefits by both parties. Recognising that current trade between Africa and India has remained highly asymmetrical, the potential for expanding trade is significant and could double by 2021. The author proposes the following initiatives; stimulate interactions between Africa and India’s private sector, policymakers and think tanks; increase the availability of information on markets and market opportunities; address market access constraints, including tariffs and other non-tariff barriers; and facilitate trade and investment through appropriate policies and regulatory frameworks.
